Yes, today is a day to honor America, but as we celebrate, let’s not forget that the ultimate freedom comes from God. Five thoughts:

1) Christ has set us free, and once freed, we should not return to the yoke of slavery to sin (Galatians 5:1).

2) We should live as free people, not using our freedom to cover up sins, but to serve God (1 Peter 2:16).

3) God’s truth will set us free (John 8:32).

4) We are set free to become slaves… of righteousness (Romans 6:18).

5) There is no condemnation to those who are free in Christ (Romans 8:1-2).

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
